The 2022 Rinzai Maui Obon Festival has been Cancelled

While we were optimistic earlier this year of having our Obon, the fact is that covid cases are still high here on Maui, and the CDC considers all counties in Hawaii at high risk. As a result, the Board of Directors of Rinzai Zen Mission decided to cancel our Obon festival for this year. However, we will have Obon service only on Saturday, August 20th for members and their families at 12:00 noon.

Reverend Seiya Chisaka will preside over the service while he and his family are here visiting from Japan.

Masks are required inside the temple. Viewing of the service will be available via Zoom to anyone unable to attend in person, including our ministers in Japan. Viewing will also be available downstairs at the temple.
