Rev. Yamaguchi ’s One-year Memorial Service

Aloha Everyone,

We will be having Reverend Ryozo Yamaguchi’s one year memorial service on Sunday, December 18, at our Temple. Reverend Seiya Chisaka and two ministers from Zuigunji Temple will be here from Japan to preside over the service. This will also be a Zoom event, Zoom ID 2269813784, Passcode 096624. We will have a catered luncheon at 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 12:30 p.m. How quickly a year has gone by since the passing of our beloved Reverend Yamaguchi. We continue to have many fond memories of him and his dedication to our Rinzai Zen Mission.

Plant/Rummage Sale
Our plant/rummage sale held in mid- October was a success. Combined with monetary donations, our sale brought in approximately $3,100. We are planning another sale in March of 2023, details to follow later.

New Minister
We are raising funds to help upkeep our Temple’s facilities and to pay for our new minister’s salary. We are in the process of obtaining a new minister from Japan, Reverend Kodai Haga. Immigration Attorney Richard Berman is assisting us with the paperwork required to bring him to Maui.

Mahalo!
Thanks to our many donors and to Foodland Supermarket and Western Union for contributing $2,100 to our Temple through the Foodland Give Aloha Program. Many thanks also to Janet Miyahira who has spearheaded this project for us for a number of years now.

Happy New Year!
Let’s reflect on this past year as it draws to a close and look forward to a promising New Year. Many wishes to all for a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
