I would like to wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year for the year 2017. Looking back over the years (29 years!) I can consider myself fortunate, living on the island of Maui. No big disasters occurred and the island is still a beautiful place, welcoming people from all over into its folds. We cannot control the events that take place in our family lives. The ebb and flow of the natural world is always looking at us square in the face no matter how technologically advanced we are. So let us enter into the New Year with strength and equanimity to handle what may come our way.

Don’t forget that in 2017 we will be celebrating 90 years of the Myoshinji School of Rinzai Zen in Hawaii as we move on and embrace the future.
